MURDER ALLEGED
CHARGE AGAINST BUTCHER P.A. WELLINGTON, May 17. William Albertus Ivan Stuck, aged 40, a butcher, was charged before Mr W. F. Stilwell, S.M.. in the Magistrate’s Court to-day with the murder of Bertha Bessie Amy Day, aged 27, at Paparua, near Christchurch, on May
14. On the application of Detective Sergeant G. E. Callaghan, the magistrate remanded the accused to appear in Christchurch on May 24. Mr G. I. Joseph appeared for Stuck. Stuck was arrested by Chief Detective Compton on board the interisland steamer Hinemoa yesterday morning as the ship was coming in to berth at Wellington. The police launch intercepted the ship in the harbour. ■
