Mr and Mrs W. K. George, of Clyde, are visitors to Dunedin. Mrs Ivan Morris, of Alton avenue, has returned from Wellington. Mrs A. M. Cameron, of Drivers road, returned on Saturday from Queenstown. Mrs C. Mauger, of London street, is spending a holiday at Brighton. Mrs E. H. Murray, of Wellington, is the guest of Mrs J. D. Ferguson, of Market street. Mrs F. G. Osmond and her daughter, of Gisborne, are the guests of Mrs I. F. Poole, of Lynwood avenue. Miss M. McKinnon, and Miss J. Black, of Hamilton, are the guests of Mrs C. Dickey, of Forbury road, St. Clair. Mr and Mrs G. J. McNaught, of New Plymouth, who have been visiting Mrs McQueen, of Invercargill, will return to Dunedin to-morrow.

Miss R. A. Allen, of New Plymouth, who was attending the Secondary Schools’ Conference, is spending a few days at Portobelio.

Mr and Mrs E. H. Rowntree, of Gore, whb were delegates to the Secondary Schools’ Conference, returned home on Saturday.

Mrs M. E. Stevenson, of Invercargill, who has been the guest of Mrs I. B. Stevenson, left on Friday for Tinvaru. The local executive of the Women Teachers’ Association entertained the New Zealand executive to afternoon tea in the teachers’ clubroom in Moray place, on Friday. Mrs Carlyle Ferguson and her daughter, Miss Agnes Ferguson, of Perth, Western Australia, are at present spending a holiday with Mrs J. L. Page, of Ravensbourne. and Mrs A. Hanten, of Dunedin.

Mr and Mrs Arthur Nicolson, of Tauranga who have been > attending the Secondary Schools’ Conference, returned home on Saturday.

Mr and Mrs J. D. Hudson and Miss Judith Hudson, of Auckland are the guests of Mr and Mrs Richard Hudson, of Royal terrace. \Mr and Mrs O. J. Begg and Mr and Mrs O Doel, of Palmerston North, left yesterday on their return journey. Mrs W. H. Walker has arrived from Nelson to spend a holiday with her mother, Mrs S. T. Anderson, of London street.

Mrs J- W. Mac Lean, of Gisborne, who has been the guest of her sister, Mrs A.H. McLeod, of Arthur street, left on Sunday to visit her daughter, Mrs G. Williams, oi Gore. Mrs G. R. Ritchie left yesterday for Waipawa where she will spend some time with her daughter, Mrs David Rit«Jh*ebefore her departure to England by tne Ruahine early in June. At the May social afternoon of the Theosophical Women's Association, Miss Baker gave a talk on art needlework, with special reference to the sixteenth century work. Among the beautiful exhibits was a magnificent cloth with drawn-thread work done by nuns in Asslssi. Misseo Sutherland and Kerr contributed vocal solqs with Mrs Barkman as accompanist. The annual meeting of the Tainui Croquet Club was held on Saturday, May 15 when the following were elected to office:—President, Mrs F. Hanger: vicepresidents, Mrs A. McGregor and Mrs M. Surgenor; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mrs P. Blackburn: captain, Mrs R. H. Clark; deputy captain, Mrs W Adamson; committee—Miss Black, Mesdames Whitehead. Rennie, Brocklebank and Seear. Mrs A. N. Aitken. an overseas bride who came by air from Cairo two years ago. left on Saturday, May 15, by air to join Mrs Elizabeth Harper, of Lower Hutt They will fly to Sydney this week to wish “bon voyage ” to Mrs Harper s mother and father who have been out here from Cairo visiting their daughter, who is also an overseas bride. The play-reading and musical circles of St. Phifomena’s Ex-pupils’ Association held a meeting in toe college on May 11. The programme was opened by a piano solo by Miss O. Rowlands. In an impromptu speech competition the judge, Mrs J More, made the following placings. Miss N. Cull 1. Miss D. McDowell 2, Miss T. Patterson 3, Miss V. Kehoe 4. A novelty competition which was won by Miss V\ Kehoe, following by supper, concluded the evening. Mr and Mrs Richard Hudson, who will celebrate their golden wedding on Wednesday, were guests of honour at a a o’clock party given by the executive of the Repertory Society yesterday. Mrs Hudson has been president of the society since its inception 15 years a e°-°n behalf of the society, Mrs Wakefield Holmes nresented Mrs Hudson with a basket of narcissi and golden chrysanthemums, and referred to their long association in operatic and dramatic circles. The annual meeting of the St Clair Ladies’ Bowling Club was held in the pavilion on Thursday afternoon. The following office-bearers were elected: President. Mrs W. Lloyd; vice-presidents, Mesdames F. Mackay and H. Cross; secretary, Mrs J. Sparrow; selectors, Mesdames H Fastier and J. Hammond; delegate to centre, Mrs W. Lloyd; committee—Mesdames J. Campbell, H. Humphreys and E. Trenwith. After the meeting members were entertained at afternoon tea by the retiring president, Mrs W. McLauchlan.
