Thirty-two years to the day after he celebrated his first Mass in St. Peter’s, Rome, Cardinal Spellmap, Roman Catholic Archbishop of New York, said a Mass this morning at St. Mary’s Convent before leaving by air for Sydney, accompanied by 14 other dignataries. Cardinal. It is because of the marvellous climate and other natural advantages. We carry away the same impression as our soldiers did of the hospitality and sincerity of New Zealanders.” Cardinal Spellman paid a special tribute to the helpfulness of the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, and other Ministers, the Mayors of Auckland and Wellington, and the Chief Justice, Sir Humphrey O’Leary.
