HENRY OF NAVARRE

A DOUBLE AT AUCKLAND WIN FOR BLACK MACHINE P.A. AUCKLAND, May 16. The Auckland Trotting Club’s winter meeting was concluded yesterday in fine weather before an attendance of 17,500. The track was in good order but dead. Fly On, the winner of the Manukau Handicap, paid over a century on the win machine. The totalisator handled £136,205 10s, compared with £137,913 10s on the second day last year. The total for the meeting was £247",531 10s, compared with £252,114 last May, a decrease of £4582 10s. Following the running of the May Handicap an inquiry was held into the behaviour of Peter Dale, who finished third and as a result the horse was refused permission to race again at the meeting or for one month thereafter because of his uncontrollable habits. The New Zealand Trotting Association is to decide what action will be taken regarding Peter Dale’s future. An inquiry was also held into alleged interference with Paper Man by Minoru, but no action was taken. The following are the details:— ROYAL HANDICAP, Of £BOO. Class 4.50.
