Spirited Finish Glenrowan made all the running in the Opihi Trot at Washdyke and fought off challengers to win by a length. In a spirited finish for minor placings Last Wrack. Merrymaker-, Gloxania, Ben’s Son and Rhonda Grattan reached the line in the order named separated by narrow margins For a two-year-old, Merrymaker’s effort was excellent. Ada Scott’s Win
Wayfarer paced along freely in the lead in the Beaconsfield Trot, and when his co-pacemaker Squire Dillon broke at the six furlongs he carried on to the straight, where he appeared to have the race in hand, until Ada Scott, who was boxed in just behind him, got clear with 60 yards to go and just got up to head him. Ipso Facto was weakening in third place after closing on Wayfarer on the home turn.
