ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY

It was reported at the monthly meeting of the Waitaki Acclimatisation Society on Thursday night that during the past month subsidies had been paid out to the extent of £26 15s 6d, these being for 15 stoats, 407 harrier hawks, 104 hedgehogs, 95 ferrets, and 5 German owls. Dr E. E. Butler was in the chair.

Mr A. Rennie reported that the road through the Gemmells’ Crossing reserve was in a bad state of repair through erosion. A crusher was reported to be working in the vicinity at the present time and it was decided to ask the County Council if it would gravel the road. Mr C. Andrew wrote stating that this would be his last term .on the council. Dr Butler, in expressing appreciation of Mr Andrew’s services said he had been a keen member of the society for many years.
