PALMERSTON STOCK SALE
The ya’dinp of 220 head of cattle was a feature of the Palmerston sale, held yesterday, and included an annual draft of well-bred Hereford and Black P.olledHereford cross 18-month-old steers and heifers, which sold at satisfactory prices after good competition. Competition was confined to South and Central Otago buyers. The yarding of 920 sheep, including 720 lambs, mostly ewe lambs, with the exception of one line of good wether lambs, comprised mostly end-of-season lots, and realised prices on late rates.
Quotations: —Medium to good ewe iambs, 23s 7d to 32s lOd; medium ewe lambs, 25s to 25s 9d; small ewe lambs, 20s 5d to 21s 6d; good wether lambs, 27s to 31s 3d; small to medium wether lambs, 20s 9d to 23s 7d;/ cull m.s. lambs, 16s 2d; two-tooth wethers, 325; two, four and eight-tooth ew’es, to 30s; failingmouth ewes. 19s 3d;, inferior cull twotooth ewes, 17s 6d to 20s. Two-year-old steers, to £ll 2s 6d; 18month Black Poll-Hereford cross steers. £8 12s Gd to £11; 18-nionth Hereford steers, £7 15s to £11; 18-month Black Poll-Hereford cross steers, £7 10s to £8 10s; 18j-month Hereford heifers, £6 17s 6d to £7 15s; dairy. heifers, spring calvers, to £lO.
