Since a Chair of Ancient History already exists, it is desirable that the applicant should be a specialist in some phase of Modern History. Salary will be at the rate of £ISOO per annum. There is a normal retirement provision under the Professorial Superannuation Scheme, and, in addition, a pension of £4OO per annum upon retirement after attaining the age of 60 years.
