SKELETONS FOUND

LIBERATOR BOMBER OFF CAIRNS MELBOURNE, May 13. A native diver reported that there were a number of skeletons in a Liberator bomber which was found lying in 20 feet of water at Opal Reef, near Cairns, Queensland, The plane, which was almost certainly a war-time casualty, was discovered by a fisherman on May 9, and a party was despatched to investigate. The Liberator has the United States Air Force stars on the wings. The R.A.A.F., the Civil Aviation Department, and the United States Legation are awaiting reports from Cairns of the identification letters of the plane, which could be one of many Liberators officially recorded lost.
