STAFF LOSSES

SOUTHLAND SCHOOLS Daily Times Special Service INVERCARGILL, May 13. Unable to replace women teachers who have resigned to be married, the Southland Education Board is faced with the possibility of closing some schools and allowing others to carry on with inadequate staffs. In April, the board advertised for nine assistants and this month for 10, but not one reply has been received. The secretary of the board, Mr H. T. Thompson, said to-day that unless some former women teachers offered their services it was possible that some schools would be unable to function satisfactorily if at all.
