R.S.A. CLUBROOMS
President’s Appeal
Jn an interview with a Daily Times reporter yesterday morning, Mr I. T. Caito, president of the Oamaru R.S.A., stated that while the controversy concerning the R.S.A. club rooms site existed there could not be complete harmony in the ranks of the association. Public support would naturally wane, and it might be many years before club rooms could be built.
" My own personal opinion,” Mr Catto said, “ is that every returned serviceman should consider what will be best lor the association as a whole, and not for one section against another. I feel there is only one answer, and that is that club rooms should be built on the site available in Itchcn street, on which the Services Bowling Club has started the construction of a bowling green.” Mr Catto said he would not like to be critical of any opinion regarding club rooms, but rather was he critical of the methods used to gain support for those opinions. He made pn earnest appeal to all sections to face up to the true position, and felt certain that if this was done, not only would club rooms come into being but the association would also flourish and have the respect of the people of North Otago.
