Jack Potts Mare
Romantic Lady, one of C. S. Donald's team for Washdyke to-morrow, is a four-year-old mare by Jack Potts from Dillon Squared, and is thus a sister to that good performer Joan Conquest. Dunedin-owned Pacer
Bull’s Eye lost his chance in each of his races at Forbury Park through adding to his handicap by breaking at the start. The Dunedin-owned pacer is very well and may make amends at the Wellington meeting next week. Related to Certissimus
Grand Fleet, the winner of the Lauriston Handicap at Ashburton, was got by Quite Sure from Scapa Flow, by Man-o’-War from Past Memories, by Author Dillon from Belle Keller, the second dam of Certissimus Good Performances
Lusty Bingen, a candidate for the Beaconsfield Handicap at Timaru, put up two good performances at the Oamaru Jockey Club’s meeting in March, when he finished second to that smart improver Attack in the Weston Handicap and later in the day won the Redcastle Handicap from a big field. A four-year-old, he is by Voltaire from Providence and is trained by V. Leeming. Change of Owners Prior to the start of the Oamaru Juvenile Stakes last Saturday, Bronze Gold was purchased by G. Humphries, who was a successful jockey a few years ago. In J. Young’s Team A recent addition to J. Young’s team at Addington is the trotter Royal Dale, who was formerly trained by G. Cameron. The Sandydaie mare is not at home in heavy going and will not be taken in hand till the spring. Promising Showing Petite Direct, who was solidly supported for the Mangere Handicap at Auckland, is a half-sister to Single Direct. After swerving at the start and losing a lot of ground she showed a fine turn of speed and is one worth remembering. Headed For Tighter Classes
Big Guy is one of the best prospects among the trotters in the Auckland district .and he shows promise of reaching the tightest classes. His performance in winning the Stewards’ Handicap at Auckland last Saturday was an excellent one as he broke during the running and lost a big stretch of ground. A four-vear-old by Josedale Grattan, he was got from Pearl Parrish, by Guy Parrish from Bell Bingen, by Bingen from Berthabell, by Peter the Great.
