NIGHT OF GAIETY
POPULAR CAPPING BALL Multi-coloured balloons, streamers, pink ’and green lights twinkling amongst greenery massed around the walls, and large bowls of autumntinted flowers were the effective decorations in the Town Hall for what was perhaps the most popular function of a week of gaiety, the capping ball. A large number of graduates and holders of diplomas, 360 in all, were presented, with their partners, to the Chancellor of the University, the Rev. Dr D. C. Herron, and Mrs Herron, the president of the Students’ Association, Mr A. G. Ritchie, and the lady vicepresident, Miss Olga Skousgaard. Among those present were Mr Justice Kennedy,,the Mayor, Mr Cameron, and Mrs Cameron, Lady Sidey, Professor F. G. Soper and Mrs Soper, Mrs Middleton, Dr C. M. Focken and Mrs Focken, Dr R.
