EXTENSIVE DAMAGE
MOTH PLANE OVERTURNS P.A. NEW PLYMOUTH, Apl. 19. A Canterbury Aero Club Tiger Moth aeroplane bound for Tauranga made a forced landing at the Maori development scheme at Waimiha at 10 a.m. to-day. The plane overshot the narrow field, ratt into a narrow ditch, and rolled over on its back, causing fairly extensive damage,. The occupants, M. Potter and R. Thompson, of Christchurch, were not injured. With clouds closing in on them the airmen lost their way, and decided to make a landing and seek information. The field chosen was that used by the Public Works Department’s Whitney Straight, which, made an aerial topdressing experiment at Ongarua last year. The wings rudder, and propeller were damaged. Soon after the accident Potter and Thompson stripped the aircraft and made it ready for transport by rail to Rongotai, where it will be repaired.
