DUNEDIN FRENCH CLUB
At the social evening held in the Pioneer Women’s Memorial Hall on Monday evening the Dunedin French Club presented a varied programme. On the musical side Miss Margaret Elder provided two songs, “ Boujour, Suzon,” by Delibes, and #
“ Crepuscule,” by Massenet, with Miss Georgian Smith as her accompanist. Mr lan Harvey played two piano solos, Debussy’s “ Clair de Lune ” and Chopin s Prelude No. 22. Two young Dunedin men who were only recently in France, Messrs David Rathbone and Jeff. Robson, entertained with brief accounts of their experiences, the one with the Scout jamboree party
and the other with the Davis Cup tennis team. Both gave interesting addresses, and Mr Rathbone, although still a pupil of a secondary school, spoke in French throughout. The final item was a comedy with a typically French flavour, capably read by Mme. Bellugue, Mrs King, and Misses McQuaid and Shirley Woodhead.
