TROTTING NOTES
April 17, 24 .. .. Manawatu T.C. April 24, May 1 .. Forbury Park T.C. May 8 .. . .. Oamaru T.C. May 8. 15 .. .. Auckland T.C. May 22 Wellington T.C. Jotttings Handicaps lor the first day of the Forbury Park meeting are due on Monday and withdrawals on Tuesday. The double-gaited Safari has been nominated both as a pacer and a trotter at the Forbury Park meeting. Brother to Plunder Bar West Point now looks on the way to justifying his relationship to Plunder Bar and indigo. He is, however, more likely to succeed as a stayer than as a sprinter. Red Hussar Even the tightest classes arc not likely to be beyond Red Hussar eventually. The handsome son of Jack Potts has speed in keeping with his looks. Promising Effort Sirocco's performance in running second in the Spotswood Handicap at the Cheviot meeting was a very promising one and stamped him as an early winner. He is one of W. K. TattersOn's team and was got by Sandydale from Light Wings, the dam of Emulous. Engaged at Forbury
The Lucky Jack trotter Lucky Bill has not been over-raced this season, having been started eight times for two wins and two second placings. His more recent win was scored at Oamaru on Labour Day, when he won the Waitaki Handicap in 3min 41 4-ssec from a 3.52 mark. He is engaged at the Forbury Park meeting and he has already had success on the local track. Dispersal of Stud
The disposal sale of the Red Band Lodge stud will be held at Invercargill to-day. Two of the two-year-olds to be offered a gelding by Noble Scott from Lady Effie and a filly by U. Scott from Effie Parrish, showed ability above the average when worked earlier in the season. The U. Scott filly is an attractive pacer and likely to come to hand early. Both are members of the one family, Effie Parrish being a daughter of Lady Effie, the dam also of Three Tens, Leonin and Harold Potts. Both two-year-olds have been nominated for the Winton and Wyndham Juvenile Stakes of next season.
Ballot May Be Necessary A huge entry has been received for the Washayke Trot. The conditions of the race provide that in the event of the safety number being exceeded, the field shall be reduced by ballot, and it is almost certain that this will be necessary. Fortunately, the safety number at a mile and a-half at Washdyke is a liberal one.
By Red Shadow A recent addition to G. S. Smith’s team at Addington. Red Ace is an aged mare by the 1933 New Zealand Cup Handicap winner, Red Shadow, from a winner at the trotting gait in Kalute, who left other winners in Muraahi to Matchlight and Mah Jong to Maxegin. Katute, who was bred at Tai Tapu by Mr R. M. Morten, is by Nelson Bingen from Muricata, by Mauritius from Ocean Wave, by Rothschild from Ripple, by Fleur de Lys. Possible Cup Horse
Congo Song, who is one of the best three-year-old colts seen out this season, has raced well for Messrs P. Symes and A. Holmes to gain four wins and five minor placings in his 11 starts, his other wins being in the Riccarton Stakes, the New Zealand Derby Stakes, and the New Zealand Metropolitan Challenge Stakes at the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club's Cup meeting in November. A beautifully-built son of a champion pacer in Gold Bar from Flying Helen, Congo Song appeals as a cup horse in the making.
