STRIKE DECLARED
WAIKATO POWER SCHEMES NINE HUNDRED MEN OUT Special to the Daily Times AUCKLAND, Mar. 10. All construction work on the three major Central Waikato power schemes ceased at midnight when the 900 men engaged went on strike. The Mangakino branch of the New Zealand Workers’ Union has advised the project engineer, Mr J. T. Gilkison, that the strike will last till its secretary, Mr L. Clapham, described as a Communist, who is under orders to transfer to Auckland, is reinstated in his former job as a tunneller at Maraitai.
