BAIL REFUSED
SERIOUS OFFENCE ALLEGED When the charge of unlawful carnal knowledge of a 15-year-old girl was called against Colin Raymond Wills in the City Police Court yesterday, Chief Detective Hall asked for a remand until March 11. and mentioned that 12 witnesses would be heard.
Mr C. J. L. White, appearing for the accused, who is a grocer, aged 37, sought bail. He referred to the fact that Mill. W. Bundle. S.M., had refused bail previously, but emphasised that the accused’s wife, with two small children and one expected, was in a difficult position in having to conduct the grocery business herself. Mr White submitted a medical certificate on the wife’s health.
Strenuously opposing bail, the chief detective said the accused could not control himself. He was a menace to both boys and girls. Observing that the possibility of a repetition of the offence had to be considered. the magistrate, in granting the remand, refused bail. ,
