FINES IMPOSED
FAILURE TO MAKE RETURNS OF INCOME The Commissioner of Taxes, represented >y Mr J. B. Deaker, proceeded against our taxpayers in the City Police Court -esterday for failing to furnish returns if income. Mr Deaker said that in each ase they had ignored the warnings given iy the department. The magistrate, Mr J. D. Willis, imposed ines of £lO, with 10s costs and £3 3s Irown solicitor’s fee, on Walter Leslie Cedzlie, a waterside worker; Gordon Srant, a slaughterman; and James Levi Jiles, a labourer. Richard Geary, a abourer, was fined £2, with costs 10s nd Crown solicitor’s fee £3 3s. It was tated that Geary had since furnished a eturn.
