Jottings Acceptances for the Cromwell meeting are due to-day. Nominations for the Beaumont meeting are due to-morrow. Handicaps for the Riverton meeting will be declared on Monday, March 15. The win dividends at Wingatui on Thursday averaged £ls. Overweight Sumra carried 41b overweight in the Centennial Cup, and this added to the merit of her performance in finishing second. Below Form Voltaire raced well below his best form in the hurdle events at Wingatui and never looked like reaching a place. Grand Type Sea Venture is a grand type of mare, resembling in many respects her dam. Set Sail. She should be a valuable brood mare when her racing days are over. Unlucky Jan made up so much ground to finish fourth in the Blundell Handicap that she appeared to be very unlucky in being chopped out at the start. The sister to Eriskay should not be off the winning list for very long. Finished Well Bobby Dazzler ran two good races last week and finished well to get third in each of them. Trained by his owner, Mr
J. Brown, at Wingatui, he is a five-year-old by Nightly from Miss Drench, who was got by Diacquerod from Waterspray, a mare tracing back to Traducer. Greyfel The support that came for Greyfel in the Haere Mai Handicap would seem to indicate that the Siegfried gelding will soon gallop his way out oi trial handicap company. > Cromwell prospect
Sea Flower was prominent for about a mile and a-quarter in the Otago Handicap, and judged on that form, she should win a stake at the Cromwell meeting at the week-end. Broiefort Gelding
Relampago ran a fair race in the Blundell Handicap to finish sixth, and should be a better horse next time out. The Broiefort gelding will probably contest the Champion Hack Handicap at Riverton at Easter.
Improved with Racing Page’s Raid improved with the racing he had at Wingatui and should be in capital condition for his jumping campaign during the winter
Impressive Winner Heroic Girl was an impressive winner on both days at Wingatui and looks certain to go a long way. Owned by the southern sportsman, Mr W. Swale, she is a four-year-old by Siegfried from Winsome Girl, and so is a half-sister to Royal Lancer, winner of the New Zealand Cup of 1942. Nearco Horse
The English horse Super (Nearco— Superbe) was started in the Haere Mai Handicap on the first day of the Wingatui meeting but did not get a clear run. Early Win Likely Wild Spec raced consistently for a third and a fourth at the centennial meeting and should be an early winner. He is a five-year-old by Wild Chase from Zora Sir Galloway Gelding Gay Music has yet to win a race, but he was noticed putting in good work in the closing stages of the Goldfields Handicap. An upstanding gelding by Sir Galloway, he looks the type who would make a good hurdler.
