FILM SOCIETY

The first screening of the 1948 season of the Oamaru Film Society was held recently, when a Chaplin comedy of 1917 vintage and Rene Clair’s comedy, " The Italian Straw Hat.” were shown. They demonstrated the development of the art of the screen during the silent days, and showed clearly how superb the acting had to be without the assistance of speech, sound effects and glamour.
