Both Chile and the Argentine have made claims on British possessions in the Antarctic. Last week President Videla, of Chile, visited Greenwich Island (shown in photograph), and made a declaration claiming Chilean sovereignty over the island. Greenwich Island is in the British-owned South Shetlands.
