Bunting in profusion added to Tite corvettes and merchant ships in nort were “ dressed ” for the occasion and the bright lights of the vessels at night added 8 a pleasing touch of colour been hoped to take the eight flOTal floats thtonSh the city agam m thp evening but the authorities i * luctantly cancelled the arrangements w-mse the night was considered too rnid for the personnel,-particularly the young women. The authorities were of the opinion that it would have been inconsiderate, when the procession returned to Logan Park late in the afternoon to have asked the young women to proceed almost immediately over the long route once again. The Southland floral float will leave for Invercargill this morning. Because of its magnificent appearance the decision was made to take the float through to Invercargill to afford the neople of Southland an opportunity of seeing their valuable contribution to the cavalcade of progress.
