VACANCIES FOR MEDICAL & DENTAL OFFICERS In the ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVY ROYAL NEW ZEALAND ARMY MEDICAL CORPS ROYAL NEW ZEALAND ARMY DENTAL CORPS ROYAL NEW ZEALAND AIR FORCE Registered surgeons, physicians and suitably qualified dental surgeons are Invited to apply for appointment as Medical and as Dental Officers in the New Zealand Armed Forces. Medical Officers may apply for appointment in any service, Dental Officers in the R.N.Z. A.D.C. (for duty with Navy, Army or Air Force.) PERIOD OF SERVICE: Commissions arc initially for three years on the Active List, but Officers will be eligible and may apply for further engagement. RANK: Rank on appointment Is based on the number of years the Officer has been qualified e.g. a Doctor qualified two years would be appointed as a Surgeon Lieutenant, Captain or Flight Lieutenant. A dentist qualified two years would be appointed as Captain (Army Dental Corps). RATES OF PAY AND ALLOWANCES: Gross Salary and Allowances Surgeon Lieutenant R.N.Z.NA f?« Captain R.N.Z. A.M.C. or I rations & R.N.Z.A.D.C. j quarters. Flight Lieutenant R.N.Z.A.F.J GRATUITIES: A gratuity of £SO per annum will be paid for each complete year of service. TRAINING: Provision is made for a Medical Officer to have a period of full time clinical experience In metropolitan hospitals each year. BURSARIES: After three years’ service Medical Officers will be granted:— (a) Free passage to United Kingdom (with wife and family if married). SFree University fees and books. Cost of living grant £375 free of . tax (£625 if married). Dental Officers will be granted:— (i) £l5O tax free for University fees and books for 12 months post graduate study in Dunedin. (ii) £3OO tax free (£SOO if married) as cost of living grant. NOTE: If a Dental Officer does not wish to take the post graduate course he will be paid £3OO tax free grant whether married or single.
