PETROL LICENCES
COMMERCIAL USERS SPECIAL APPLICATION FORM Petrol licences for commercial users and pleasure launches are now being issued in the basement of the Town Hall, together with the coupons for private and business motor cars. Application for commercial oil. - fuel licences must be made on special application forms which are now available. When these forms have been filled in they may be presented personally or posted to the Oil Fuel Officer at the Town Hall. The Oil Fuel Officer, Mr G. Columbus, told the Daily Times yesterday that he had already received applications for licences by letter, but as the special application form had not been completed and sent with the letters, no licence could be issued. If commercial users completed the form and posted it to his office with a covering letter, however, the licence would be posted back to the applicant,'’ and this would save him making a special trip. Mr Columbus added that petrol for private and business cars was covered by an issue of coupons, but commercial users and motor boat owners received oil fuel licences for the basic ration of petrol laid down for their particular class of vehicle or boat. Commercial users who consider that they have claims to more petrol than has been Allowed them under the basic ration must apply to the Oil Fuel Controller at Wellington setting out their case for an increased allocation. The Oil Fuel Controller at Wellington will consider each case on its merits. Those who apply for special licences would be advised at tnis stage to retain a copy of their letter to the Oil Fuel Controller in case he should decide later to give local oil fuel officers the authority to issue special licences. No authority exists at present for this to be done, however, and all applications must be addressed to Wellington.
