TASMAN AIR SERVICE
FLIGHTS RESUMED FOUR RETURN TRIPS WEEKLY A Skymaster plane was to leave Sydney yesterday and will depart from Auckland to-day under an arrangement which has been made by Tasman Empire Airways with Trans-Australian Airlines to provide four trips a week both ways between Australia and New Zealand. A statement to this effect was made to the Daily Times yesterday by the Minister of Civil Aviation, Mr Jones. “ It is hoped that it will be possible to increase this service by another two return trips a week,” Mr Jones added. He said that the present arrangement would be supplemented by one return trip by a Hythe flying boat leaving Sydney on Thursday. “Every endeavour will be made to augment these services, if possible, and it is hoped that the bookings which have been made for trans-Tasman transport for the next few weeks will be met as far as possible,” Mr Jones continued. Thanks were due to the Federal Government, Trans-Australian Airlines, and Qantas Empire Airways for their ready assistance and helpful co-operation in making this service possible.
