VETERANS’ GOLF
CHAMPIONSHIP BEGUN P.A. WELLINGTON, Feb. 18. The first round of the Wellington veterans’ golf championship at Miramar provided some unexpected results, including the defeat of the title-holder, J. H. Drake. Drake went down to his club mate, O. K. Tennent. Results:— First round. —Somerset Smith (Napier) beat A. Clouston (Miramar), I up. G. H. Scott (Miramar) beat J. B. Formes (Miramar), 4 and 2. A. Gollop (Paekakariki) beat C. W. Swinburne (Miramar), 1 up. W. C. Cook (Hutt) beat G. K. Kitching (Shannon), 5 and 4. C. Campbell (Otaki) beat R. A. Westbrook (Miramar), 4 and 2. D. L. Blyth (Wanganui) beat T. G. Roberts (Miramar), 1 up. O. K. Tennent (Miramar) beat J. H. Drake (Miramar), 1 up. A. S. T. Butler (Miramar) beat W. B. Struthers (Miramar), 2 up.
