FLIGHT TO ARCTIC

ADVANCED ROYAL AIR FORCE TRAINING N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent Rec. 10 p.m. LONDON, Feb. 11. As part of their training. 66 R.A.F. officers and airmen of the Empire Air Navigation School will fly in seven Lancaster aircraft to the North Polar region. They will fly from Gibraltar to Reykjavik (Iceland) on an 11-hour flight, employing pressure pattern and grid navigation techniques. On February 22 the Lancasters will fly from Reykjavik to Leuchars. Fifeshire, Scotland. by way of Jan Meyen and Bear Islands, which will take them within 900 miles of the North Pole.
