Churches Oppose Lottery Scheme
N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, Feb. 10.
The Churches’ Committee on Gambling issued a statement strongly opposing the suggested establishment of a British international lottery. The statement claims the lottery is directly opposed to all ideas of Christian social progress, would pander to the selfish instincts of human nature, and would enable the State to profit from gambling instead of suppressing it.
