Davidson. Taking a line through his form on the second day of the Forbury Park meeting, Checkmate should add to his earnings at Addington on Saturday. Rendezvous, a winner at Winton, is a five-year-old mare by Dillon Hall from Rocks Ahead, the dam of Navigate. Balloted Out Bull's Eye, who is now owned in Dunedin, was among the horses balloted out of .the Advance Handicap at the Canterbury Park meeting. Win Overdue Joan McKinney, who finished second in a division of the Otapiri Trot, is one of S. Todd’s team. In her last two seasons her record has been four placings. • Consistent Place-getter Locknit has only once finished outside a place in her six starts since she went into S Messervy’s stable, her record being a win two seconds, a third, and a fourth A five-year-old by Grattan Loyal from Celanese she is engaged in the Advanoe Handicap at the Canterbury Park meeting. Nicely Placed The Gold Bar mare Wedding Ring looks nicely placed on the limit in the Harewood Handicap' at the Canterbury Park meeting. So far this season she has been started eight times for two wins and two third placings. Unlucky Prince Hall did not get a clear run in the closing of the second division of the Hokonui Trot at Winton, otherwise he might have been the winner. A four-year-old by riillon Hall from Chatelaine he is trained at Mataura by D. Todd and is engaged at Gore. Formerly at Oamaru Peter Dale, a winner at Auckland on Saturday, was at one time trained at Oamaru by E. Easton. He is a five-year-old by Sandydale from Margaret Bingen and is now in F. Smith’s stable at Frankton Junction. Fantom’s Record Fantom established a track record of 2min 42sec for one mile and a-quarter when he led all the way to win the First Trotters’ Championship Qualifying Race at the Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting at Epsom on Saturday. Fantom covered the first half-mile in lmin 7 3-ssec and the first six furlongs in lmin 40sec. An aged gelding, Fantom, who is trained at Roydon Lodge, Yaldhurst, by G. B. Noble for Mr J. R. McKenzie, is by U. Scott from Fantine, both of whom were imported from America.
