LEASE-LEND SHIPS

RUSSIA SEEKS PURCHASE OPTION WASHINGTON, Feb. 7. Diplomatic authorities have announced that Russia had now offered to buy 87 ships she had received under lease-lend. Russia's retention of these vessels, which ‘were mostly Liberty ships, has been the cause of controversy since early in 1946. Russia recently agreed to return seven tankers and one cargo vessel.
