NOTES FROM RICCARTON

HORSES FOR WINGATUI Special to the Daily Times CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 9. The Riccarton tracks were very quiet this morning. Most of the local horses are having a brief let up, after their racing on Saturday. The southern visitors have gone home, while those from the north are booked to leave to-night. A big team of horses from here will go to the West Coast this week to race at Greymouth on Saturday and Monday, followed by Hokitika a week later. While the horses that were raced here on Saturday by J. A. Wilson have returned to Wingatui, the trainer has not gone home. He was on the track this morning with Beau Son, who is booked to race on the West Coast circuit. Wilson will go to Greymouth and will leave the horse behind when he goes south next week, as he has several horses to race on the second day of the Gore meeting. Beau Son. a four-year-old by Sir Beau, was a sprint winner last month at the Oamaru and Vincent meetings.

About 30 horses from here have been nominated for the Dunedin Jockey Club's meeting, and it is expected that most of them will go south later this month. Included in the list are Indian Dawn, Beechwood. Helio, Royal Tan, Magnaform, Dark Arrow, Faithful Pal, Responsive, Palm Bearer, Authentic. Thornbridge, Detract, Diameter, Kartikeya, Deep Harmony, Voltaire, Moonlit, Silver Link, Ronald Macdonald.
