Stirling Castle carried a lot of money in the Prebbleton Handicap at Addington yesterday, but after being in a good position early, faded right out of the contest. Stirling Castle showed a glimpse of his best form at the New Brighton meeting last month, and he may appreciate a shorter distance than two miles. Cultivator
Cultivator was started in a race at the Motukarara meeting in October, but failed to leave the barrier, but at North Canterbury on Labour Day • ran a good second, and would have won had he gone steadily. He later won three races before the opening day of the Canterbury Park meeting, where he scored in the Lvttelton Handicap. He lost all chance in the Middleton Handicap yesterday when he failed to go away on .terms with the rest of the field. There is no doubt about his speed, but he is not yet a reliable betting proposition. Brilliant Colt
The Dillon Hall three-year-old, Belmont Hall, scored a very easy win for his Dunedin owner-trainer, Mr J. Richardson, in the Charles Cross Stakes at Addington yesterday. Belmont Hall showed promise last season, but it was not until his game effort in the Riccarton Stakes on the first day of tire Metropolitan Club's Cup meeting that he really demonstrated his class In that race he ran Congo Song, who ’ was then at the top of his form, to half a length, being just caught on the post.
