DROWNING FATALITY
MISHAP WHILE FISHING P.A. NEW PLYMOUTH, Jan. 2. Believed to have got into difficulties while fishing from an islet off Paritutu Beach yesterday afternoon, Percy Hatcher, a middle-aged man, of 91 Clavert road, New Plymouth, is missing and is presumed drowned. His 13-year-old son, who accompanied him, was able to reach the shore safely. Whether they fell, or were struck by a breaker, was not known to-night, but a bystander reported seeing the two in the water and added that one appeared to be clinging to a rock. The boy, who is a good swimmer,. reached the beach and then found his father missing.
