REPORT CONCERNING MAUI POMARE MR T. HILL’S COMMENT P.A. WELLINGTON, Jan. 2. Until the New Zealand Waterside Workers’ Union knew the source of the reported official announcement that the Maui Pomare’s January trip to the Cook Islands was cancelled, it saw no reason to comment on the statement, said the secretary, Mr. T. Hill, to-day. Mr Hill said there seemed to be something mysterious about the announcement, which did not indicate that it came from the Government. It would be thought that the Government should announce any plans connected with a Government ship.
