MONEY FOR INVESTMENT OUTLET SOUGHT IN DOMINIONS P.A. AUCKLAND, Jan. 2. “There was more money for investment in the United Kingdom to-day than there had been for many years,” said Mr V. Brooks, a member of a firm of London sharebrokers who arrived at Whenuapai by Pan-American Clipper yesterday. Mr Brooks said he was confident that Britain would emerge from its present economic crisis, although the process would take some time. Greater production of coal was assisting the dollar position considerably, trade with Sweden being' a typical example. With coal Britain was able to pay for, imports of wood pulp, which previously had to be obtained from dollar areas. Commercial firms in the United Kingdom were more than ready to expand their interests in other countries of the British Commonwealth, added Mr Brooks. There had been a marked increase in the amount of trading in securities between London and Australia, and he was to spend about two months in the Commonwealth to discuss matters with sharebroking interests there. Mr Brooks said he would also meet representatives of New Zealand business houses to discuss possible future exchanges.
