INFANTILE PARALYSIS

MORE CASES REPORTED IN ‘ AUCKLAND SIXTY NOW IN HOSPITAL p.A. AUCKLAND, Jan. 2. A positive case of infantile paralysis, a child from a southern suburb, and two suspected cases were admitted to the Auckland Hospital to-day, and one suspected case admitted on Thursday was declared positive. Fifty-five positive and five suspected cases were in hospital to-night. The positive cases include a child from Takapuna, who was diagnosed earlier in the week. This is the first case from North Shore. A suspect from that area was admitted over a fortnight ago, but the case proved negative. Since the outbreak began on November 15 a total of 81 positive cases from the Central Auckland health district have been admitted to hospital. Nineteen cases, most of them recoveries, have been discharged, and there have been seven deaths.
