ARCTIC RESCUE

WRECKED SUPER-FORTRESS FOUR SURVIVORS FLOWN OUT NEW YORK. Dec. 30. A civilian pilot yesterday rescued four survivors of the Super-Fortress who had been marooned on an Arctic mountain side for seven days, reports a message from Nome (Alaska). The pilot then took off to bring out the remaining survivors of the crew of eight. He said two other members of the crew were known to be alive. It was believed the two remaining members had left the wreckage on foot to seek help. Latest reports from Nome state that it is feared the two members of the Super-Fortress crew who went in search of aid and three members of the parachute team that went to the aid of the crew are dead.
