FAIR AND WARM ' Thes official weather forecast, covering the ensuing 24 hours, which was Issued yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington, is:— > , Situation.—An anti-cyclone . covers New Zealand, and a cold front is ad- . vancing across the Tasman Sea. Forecast to 5 p.m. To-day.— Moderate north to north-west winds, freshening at times near, the coast.. Weather fair and warm. <■: Further Outlook.—Brief showers, but ' mainly fair. Weather in Dunedin.—Almost perfect summer weather prevailed in the city during the past two days. 'On Wednesday there were Bhr 18min of sunshine, with temperatures ranging from 52deg to 74.5 deg. There was a north-east ’breeze, and a rainfall of 0.09 in was recorded up to 9.30 a.m.’ Yesterday the weather was still brighter and warmer, there being llhr of sunshine, with temperatures from 60deg to 79.5 deg. There was a light, east breeze. The barometer was rising at midnight, when the reading was 30.24 in (1024 millibars). SUMMARY FOR DECEMBER The following is a summary of the weather records taken in Dunedin during the month of December:—
Rainfall.—Total fall, 1.95 in; number of rainy days, 12; greatest fall for one day, 0.64 in (December 20). Sunshine.—Total sunshine, 175 hr 30min; number of days with sunshine, 27; greatest period of daily sunshine, 13hr 36in -(December 11). Temperatures. Average maximum, 64.4 deg; average minimum, 54.3 deg; average grass minimum, 45.2 deg; 'highest recorded, 87.5 deg (December 26); lowest recorded—air 44.5 deg (December 2 and 3), grass 27deg (December 15).
