CLUB MATCHES Otago Club.—The qualifying rounds for the Club Championship were played at Balmacewen on Saturday. J. A. Scouler headed the list of qualifiers with rounds of 71 and 76—147. The 36-hole Stroke Handicap was won by W. Cleland (hep. 16) with 80—65—145 net; the morning Stroke Handicap by A. E. Gardner 88 — 18—70 net; and the afternoon handicap by C. J. Read 89—20—69. The following players qualified for the match play stages of the championship; J. A. Scouler 147, B. V. Wright 150, A. Gibbs 152, A. H. Boyd 153, J. N. Lemon 154, T. C. Tyrrell, J. W. Mclntosh 156, F. W. Dixon 157, A. G. Sime 158, N. H. North 159, L. B. Whinam 160, P. J. Gill 161, S J. Macdonald, W. G. Aitken, J. F. Byers, and A. J. Aitken 162. Bellcknowes Club.—The Stroke Handicap played on Saturday afternoon resulted in a win in the senior division for R. J. Philip with the good score of 70— 12 —58, R. A. Penman (66—7—59), and A. H. Fairmaid (73—14—59) being next. In the juniors R. Fillery was the winner with the outstanding card of 75—24 —51, R. Telfer (80—23—57), and O. E. L. Rout (79 —18—61) following. The winner of the Lucas Cup Handicap Competition (best four rounds out of six), was H. N. Riddell, aggregate 244. J. L. Anderson, aggregate 245, was runner-up. St. Clair Club.—The final of the Fourball Knock-out resulted in a win for A. E. Timms and A. R. Timms, who defeated A. F Martin and S. G. Taylor 1 up. The Goldsmid Memorial Cup was won by C. B. Wight and R. Simpson with a score of 10 up. Other trophies were won as follows. Winners morning round -J Wren and J. Oakden, 5 up; runners-up. D. C. Bennie and G. C. McKay, 4 up. Winners afternoon round—H. G. Paul and F W. Piper, 5 up; runners-up—J. G. Barnes and J. M. Sydney, 3 up; A D Cormack and J. Dobbie, 3 up. Chisholm Park Club. —The Medal Round resulted in a win in the A Grade for J R. Dowling with a net 63. his card reading 74—11—63. R. King (80—15—65) and J. Simmonds (81—16—65) were next, and J. Anngow returned a card of 80—14
—66. In the B Grade P. King won with 81—18 —63. T. Mora was next with 86—21 —65. followed by J. A. Campbell (89—22 —67). In the juvenile section E. A. Sinclair won the Australian Stableford Handicap with 31 points, N. R. Clark being next with 29 points. The result of the Summer Flag Competition, which consists of three medal rounds, was a win in the A Grade for J. Anngow, with an aggregate of 206, L. A. Wood being next
with 207. In the B Grade P. A. King won with an aggregate of 197, J. A. Campbell being second with 212
Onslow Club.—The winners -of the Canadian Foursome played on Thursday were Mrs King and Mrs Simmonds. The closing match of the season will be played on Thursday next, when an Allprize Match (sealed holes) will be played at 11 a.m. Partners will be arranged at the clubhouse.
