ESCAPE FROM SIAM

LEADER OF “FREE THAI" MOVEMENT

Rec. 9 p.m. SINGAPORE, Nov. 22. Pridi Panomyong, leader of the wartime “ Free Thai ” movement, who has been taking refuge with the Siamese Navy since the recent coup d’etat by the war-time dictator and Japanese callaborator, Marshal Pibul, has escaped from Siam and is expected to arrive in Singapore by sea this weekend, according to reliable reports from travellers arriving in Singapore from Siam. It is not yet known whether Naval Second Lieutenant Vjarachai Chiayasitheit, former A.D.C. to King Ananda, who also took refuge with the navy, escaped in the same ship. Vjarachai is wanted by the Pibul regime in connection with King Ananda’s death. Vjarachai, according to pro-Pibul witnesses, shot King Ananda through the head with a pistol
