THIMBLE IN DERBY STAKES Special Reporter CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 21. As the result of a spell of fine weather the track at RicBftrton will be firm and fast to-morrow when the New Zealand Cup meeting will be opened with an excellent card, including the Cup, the Stewards’, and the Derby. Beau Le Havre still holds pride of place in ante-post *peculation on the Cup and three other four-year-olds in Welcome Guest, Palm Bearer, and Royal Tan are being freely discussed. Aganev will not start in the Cup and Howe may also be reserved for the Riccarton Handicap. Blue Trout will be favourite for the Stewards’ Handicap, and Magical will have the call over the others in the Welcome Stakes.
