MEMBER EXPELLED
RESIGNATION FROM PARTY FOLLOWS . Rec. 9.10 p.m. LONDON. Nov. 1. Mr Garry Allighan has resigned from the Labour Party In his letter of resignation he said, “In view of the House of Commons decision, it is obviously illogical to continue to regard myself as a member of the parly.” The House of Commons on October 30 affirmed that Mr Allighan had been guilty of dishonourable conduct, and voted his expulsion. The next step following Mr Allighan’s expulsion from the House of Commons will be a private meeting of the Parliamentary Labour Party to consider his position, says the Daily Telegraph, which adds that if the meeting takes the extreme course of recommending his expulsion as a party member the decision will have to be ratified by the National Executive. The analysis of the list of 187 Commoners who voted for Mr Allighan s expulsion from the House of Commons shows that 102 were Labour members, 70 Conservative, 6 National Liberal. 6 Liberal. 2 Communist, and 1 Independent *
