AIR MAIL SERVICE
EXTENSION ARRANGED DELIVERY TO ADDITIONAL COUNTRIES P.A. WELLINGTON, Nov. 1. Air mail 'postage to countries in Europe, Africa and Asia not directly served by the Empire air service will be charged at the new standard rate of Is 9d a half ounce from Monday, said the Postmaster-general, Mr Hackett, to-day. The charge for an air letter form will be eightpence. “At present,” Mr Hackett said, “air mail correspondence for foreign countries not directly served by the Empire air service is carried by air only to the point where it leaves the Empire services unless, as has been possible to some European countries, air mail delivery to the country of destination has been prepaid at a special additional charge. The new system gives air mail delivery all the way to countries not only in Europe but also in Africa and Asia at the standard inclusive charge of Is 9d. It means, too, that we are opening air mail connections with many additional countries such as Turkey, Greece and Ethiopa.”
