ROLL OF HONOUR UNVEILED
Totara-Alma-Deborah District
There was a large attendance of residents at an impressive ceremony in the Totara Hall on Saturday, when the roll of honour bearing the names of men from the district who served in Woild War II was unveiled. The ceiemony was under the control of Mr H. Burgess, chairman of the Totara War Memorial Committee, and addresses were given by the Mavor of Oamaru (Mr J- c. wntness), Mr J.. Catto and Mr R. A -. Needs. The memorial board was unveiled by Mrs M. Hoad. ... The honours board consists ot oak panels with contrasting fluted pillars and mouldings of maple. The names ai<' written in gold, while flags and a desigi representing the army, navy and air ioice complete an impressive piece of work. Forty-four men left the district five of whom did not return, and their names are written on a raised shield under which is inscribed “ Their name liveth for evermore.”
