SHOW JUDGES

A. AND P. ASSOCIATION NAMES ANNOUNCED Mr A. McDonald was in the chair at the monthly meeting of the North Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Association, held yesterday afternoon. The Waimate Agricultural and Pastoral Association advised that its show would be held on Saturday, April 3.

Mr G. O. Rutherford wrote offering back to the association a challenge cup won outright by his late sister in 1927 in the light horse class.—The chairman said it was a fine gesture ion the part of Mr Rutherford, and his offer was accepted.—lt was decided to offer the cup for annual competition, and to write to' Mr Rutherford askirtg him to set out the conditions under which the cup should be competed for. The North Otago Highland Pipe Band wrote offering its services at the forthcoming show.—Accepted. Export Lamb Competition

The chairman reported that the export lamb competition had to be held before the end of December, and it was decided to carry on with the competition. It was decided to appoint a sub-committee .to confer with the local fat lamb buyers to draw up rules and regulations. Judges Appointed

The following judges were appointed for the forthcoming show:— Sheep. Border Leicester, English Leicester, Romney Marsh, Mr J. A. Miller, Outram: Southdown and Ryeland, Mr J. W. Lowery, Tinwald; fat sheep, Mr W. G. Black, Fairlie.

Pigs.—Mr T. E. Rowlands, Kaiapoi. Dogs and Dog Trials.—Mr C. H. Smith, Oamaru.

Cattle.—Shorthorn, Mr R. J. Edgar, Temuka; Ayrshire, Mr W. J. Gillies, Hampden; Jersey, Mr T. E. Martyn, Rangiora; Friesian, Mr John Temple, Weston.

Hacks and Hunters.—Mr W. R. Lemon, Ashburton. Ponies. —Mr G. W. Coe, Leeston. Competitions—Mr C. L Orbell. Timaru. Draught Horses.—Mr Alex Allison, Milton.

Bread and Scones.—Mr G. McPherson, Oamaru.

Cakes and Biscuits.—Mrs H. B. Gardiner, Awanioa.

Grain and Seeds.—Mr T. A. Sellwood, Oamaru.

Knitting and Fancy Work—Miss R, Andrew, Mornington. Polling Booth

The chairman said that as the local elections fell on the same day as the show he had approached the chairman of the Waitaki County Council, Mr J. Rodman, to ascertain if it was possible to have a polling booth at the showgrounds for county electors. Mr Rodman had thought that the proposal would be acceptable and the chairman was authorised to confer with the returning officer on the matter.
