EXECUTION OF NIKOLA PETKOV BRITAIN REITERATES VIEW LONDON, Oct. 8. A Foreign Office spokesman categorically rejected the statement broadcast from Sofia that Nikola Petkov wa= executed for the common crimes of espionage and treason, and that Britain, therefore, had no case for claiming that his hanging was a breach of the “ human rights ” clause of tnp Bulgarian Treaty. 1 •<. • • The spokesman repeated Britain s view that Petkov’s trial was a political trial, improperly conducted, and that his arrest was closely linked with the suppression of the entire oooositiomst Agrarian Union, of which Petkov was chairman. .
