WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIPS SECOND DAY’S RESULTS PA. WELLINGTON, Oct. 2. With two days completed, Palmerston North and Wellington, with six wins-each, are the only unbeaten’ A Grade teams in the women’s national indoor basketball' championships, which were continued in Wellington to-day. Wellington and Auckland, with three wins each, are unbeaten in the B Grade. Palmerston North again recorded easy wins and is considered to have excellent prospects of retaining the A Grade championship. The most vital match of the day was that between Wellington and Auckland, the former winning by 22 to 14 due mainly to ‘ a brilliant first quarter in which it scored 9 points to nil. . . One of the most exciting games was between Hamilton and Southland. The scores were level at the end of the game, two extra spells being played. Hamilton won by 19 to 17. Results:— A Grade.—Nelson 23, Gisborne 22; Hamilton 24, Canterbury 18; Palmerston North 27, New Plymouth 13; Auckland 32, Southland 25; Morrinsville 25, Otago 12; Wellington 36.
