AUSTRALIANS BEAT COMBINED SERVICES LONDON, Oct. 1. In the match against the Combined SerVi-es at Twickenham to-day, the ciioiain of the Australian Rugby Union team, Bill McLean, broke his ankle, and he will be unable to play again during the tour. The Wallabies defeated the Combined Services 19—8 after leading 11—5 at half time. In the first half T. Allen scored a try and converted a try, C. Eastes scored, and R. McMaster kicked a penalty. In the second half McMaster kicked a second penalty goal. E. Davis scored, and McMaster converted. McLean suffered a broken left ankle in strong loose play when he tackled a Combined Services player. Another Combined Services player accidentally ran into McLean as he was falling.
