THE WEATHER
COLD AND SHOWERY The following official weather forecast covering the ensuing 24 hours was issued yesterday by the Meteorological Office in Wellington:— Situation.—A cold front is moving across New Zealand from the Tasman Sea. An anti-cyclone is advancing on to the Western Tasman. Forecast to 5 p.m. To-day.—Strong south-west or south winds. Weather cold and showery. Further Outlook.—Cold, but weather improving. Weather in Dunedin.—Although only one hour of sdnshine was recorded in Dunedin yesterday, temperatures were mild, with a maximum of 62.2 degrees, a minimum of 44.4 degrees, and a grass minimum o 37.4 degrees. A moderate north-west wind prevailed. A heavy rain shower was experienced during the evening. The barometer fell sharply during the day and at midnight, with pressures again rising, the reading was 29.8 inches (1009 millibars).
